BOOTS ESSENTIALS CUCUMBER MOISTURISING CREAM

hello...i know some of you who were following my blog, must have thought at some point of time....

(yes, The Devil Wears Prada reference was absolutely necessary :P )

It so happens that I had been crazy busy with work n stuff...but new year new resolution: I will seriously try to be regular here from now on. :)

Ok so today I want to share with you an AHMAZING budget beauty product, which is not only pocket friendly (in case you dont like it, you wont regret spending money on it hehe) but also very suitable for an oily-cum-acne-prone skin! and when I say acne-prone, I don't mean the teeny tiny harmless acne vulgaris, rather those big painful nasty bumps which leave horrible scars on your skin :@  Due to my skin being so problematic lately, I have been very very cautious in selecting anything that I apply on face.

"Boots Essentials Cucumber Moisturising Cream is enriched with soothing cucumber and vitamins, it is suitable for day or night use and contains antioxidants to help protect the skin from environmental damage."

Boots Essentials Cucumber Moisturising Cream says its suitable for all skin types. I cant promise it will be very suitable for extra dry skin (esp. in winters) but you can always layer it up as it is very light and non-greasy. The texture is a really fluffy one, absorbs quickly and you enjoy a very muted cucumber scent.

It comes in a 100 ml bottle which is made of plastic. Quite sturdy, and you don't have to fear it falls outta your hands ;) however, there is no lid inside the cap, so if the bottle is turned upside down, some of the cream transfers to the inside of the cap. Not a big issue as such, but some people might find it a bit messy...

The quantity is pretty good for the price, and you need a pea size amount to cover the whole face. (those with dry skin might want to apply double the amount...). It keeps my oily skin moisturised for a good 5-6 hours. There is no SPF in it, so you can apply it at night time as well. I have been using this for about a month now, morning and night, and you can see I have still almost 80% of the amount left....

So for the price tag of PKR 350 (~ USD 3.5), this is a very pocket friendly product. For my troubled skin, I would say its a greattttt product, as it not only leaves my skin feeling refreshed and smooth, but also didn't break me out (my biggest fear in trying out new products!). I think people with oily and combination skin will really enjoy using it.

I bought mine from Naheed's superstore Karachi. I have loved this product in winters, and I am definitely going to continue using this in summers as well (I had this very bad habit of not using any moisturiser for my face, but I'm a good girl now and won't skip on moisturiser :D )

Have you guys used this product before? or any other recommendations from Boots? Do share with us :)

Oh and a very happy new year dear fellas! :)

Online Shopping Experience - Bonanza e-store

Helloowwww everyone! I hope you all are doing great and enjoying the month of July :D  its been such a long time that this blog was blessed with a new post, so I had to TAKE CHARGE and now I'm officially a part of it ;) Ladies and gentlemen please welcome me : Fatima :D

Ok I guess its enough of the comics, now lets come to the online shopping experience part *slurps* :D
so a few weeks back I stumbled upon Bonanza Garments e-store while surfing the internet for visual-window-shopping, and I was quite impressed by the visual presentation and easy navigation of the website. The prices of stitched kurtis (I mainly shop for pret) were quite reasonable on their own BUT there was a 20% sale going on at that time. So as you might have guessed, I right away ordered two kurties. ;)

image: Bonanza Facebook page

image: Bonanza Facebook page
the first one was for PKR 1744 after discount and the black one (it seems purple in the pic) was of PKR 2550. The fabric of both is lawn, and as you can see the black one has beautiful embroidery too. I opted for payment thru debit card (no extra charges for that) although Cash On Delivery was also available. The shipping within Pakistan is free. In the next two days I received my package (along with the promotional gifts for the satrangi range at that time; I'm not sure if that offer is still valid ). Oh you can't imagine my excitement and happiness while opening the package but wait.....one of the kurtis was delivered in the wrong size!!! and can you guess which one?

The Black one.

God I was sooo heartbroken at that time because while doing the online shopping from the website, I had read that there is no return/exchange policy for online orders. phew! Now what to do? I decided to inform the sales department as it was a fault from their end. So I messaged them on facebook and their e-mail address provided on the website, fearing that they might tell me straight forwardly that they have no return/exchange policy.

And it so happened that I feared right!

The sales team very politely informed me that I can go to any outlet and exchange the kurti with the right size one. I was kinda disappointed as had it been easy for me to go to outlets at that time, why would I have shopped online in the first place! Nevermind, after a number of visits of the major outlets I informed the sales team that that particular size which I ordered was already finished at all the outlets. Now came the part which restored my faith in humanity :D  The Bonanza team understood the problem and hardship that I went thru although it wasn't a mistake from my end, and asked me to TCS the kurti back to them and assured that I will receive the correct size this time and also the amount of TCS will be reimbursed to me. Long story short, I did as I was instructed and they did what they promised! And I was one happy customer!! :D

Now throughout this whole episode of mental/physical fatigue of running to the outlets and the fear that I wont be able to get the right sized kurti, (and no, I was very possessive about this one and didnt want to gift it to anyone else hahaha) the thing which is appreciation worthy is the swift and helpful communication from the customer service team of Bonanza. I am very much impressed by their professional behavior and now I know even if there happens some sorta glitch during shopping from Bonanza e-store, the customer service of this Brand is not gonna leave you stranded! :)

And so much happy I was after this *successful*  shopping experience, I took my bestie out for shopping and look what we grabbed :D

maybelline babylips-cherry me

Hello people. I am back after a century. How are you guys? Hope everyone is doing great.

So today when i was busy in doing my usual boring stuff, i suddenly remembered "oh…i used to have a blog" so i decided to check the deserted place and plant some new plants there haha. So here i am sharing with you my cutest go to product these days: maybelline babylips lip balm in 15-cherry me.

I have been a sucker for lip balms since time immemorial and i am always on the hunt for some cute looking, moisturising, long staying lip balm with a slight hue that matches my lip color. (Yes, cute looking is also the criterion haha). So i must confess that i have found this baby to fulfill all my demands and its quite easy on the pocket too!

It comes in a pretty packaging with transparent lid which is quite secure and you can easily carry it in your makeup bag or pouch etc. (Like i do, daily). It has a moisturising effect on the lips which lasts for a good 2.5 to 3 hours on me - someone who lovvvvves to eat whatevvvver product is there on the lips haha so for that matter, im quite impressed by its staying power. However, a few days back, when i was the victim of extremely dry and chapped lips, i was not very impressed by its performance, but now when my lips are back to normal state i feel its working quite fine! I also love the fact that it gives a very pretty slight cherry tint to the lips which just enhances my natural lip color.

All in all its a very good product for its price. Also it goes a long way and only a little product is consumed. I have been using it for around 2-3 months now and you can see how much of the product is consumed/remains…

For PKR 350, you get 4.4g of the product. It can easily be found in any supermarket / makeup store stocking the maybelline products. If you wish to purchase online, you can check just4girls.pk or beautyarena.pk

So if you are in search for a pocket friendly lipbalm which not only moisturises your lips but gives a pretty mild Cherry tint too, i think i can safely recommend you this baby. :-)

Dont mind the crappy photographs, i took them with my phone infact i am writing this post on my phone too haha… how incredibly lazy i am to fetch a laptop! Lol

Hope you enjoyed reading the review. Do share your opinions about cherry me if you have used it and if some other lipbalm you are a fan of, do let us know here! Untill next time, xoxo :-)

Body Luxuries Body Splash - Sweet Pea

Helloooooo lovely people!!! it's been soo long that I could take some time out to write a new post, ahh...if only a day had more than 24 hours......but, now I'm backkkk,,, and I hope I'll be more regular with posts now :D

Ok, so amidst all this busy and hectic schedule, tiring days and frantic evenings, there was something that I needed to calm my senses when I use to hit the bed. And that my friends, was this little baby!

Not only that I use it religiously every morning and evening after taking baths, but I spritz it on my pillow as well because I just am TRULY MADLY DEEPLY in love with this body splash!!

Ok, so lets start with the packaging. As you can see, it has a plastic elongated bottle with plastic cap which is quite secure and intact even after months of usage. The bottle is sturdy and travel-friendly (although its a bit large in size but the good thing is, there is no spilling nor the cap gets loose). You can see the beautiful purplish liquid through the transparent bottle, which not only looks cute but is also helpful to know how much of the product is used/left. There is 236 ml (8 fl oz) of the product for the price tag of PKR 170 (US $ 1.7). Very pocket friendly, eh? ;)

The flavor "sweet pea" is quite sweet and juicy and floral and fresh; all at the same time! the fragrance has a very interesting blend of lavender, sweet pea petals and watery pear with freesia, fresh raspberry and soft delicate musk; which stays for a long time on my skin: approximately 12 hours (yes....hard to believe that something will stay THAT long in the humid, sweaty weather of Karachi haha) and let me tell you that I dont sit in A.C. all day; meaning there IS some perspiration and sweat but thank God, with this bodysplash on, I never experienced any bad odor! [I have used this splash in summer as well as winter, therefore I can safely say that the longevity of its fragrance is quite remarkable in the hot and humid summers of Karachi!]. Also, there are days when I'm extra lazy to wear an actual perfume, and I just spray it on my clothes as well (yes....some people can be THIS lazy hahaha), but here the staying time is a bit limited, like a maximum of 6 hours. Other than its superb staying power, the moisturizing feel when it is applied on the skin (as compared to other body sprays) is quite observable! I really like the fact that I dont feel that short, strong stingy feeling when I spritz it on my skin as compared to other normal body sprays....I think the aloe vera sure does its hydrating job!

Now having discussed its favorite bits, there is one thing which I seriously despise :@

Yessss....its like a rare gem stone hahahah...a few years back, I bought this from Naheed Super Market (from then on,my love for it grew and grew hahahaha...how very non-poetic! :P ) and later I bought from Atrium Mall Saddar, and as I am always telling my friends how much I love this baby, a few days back a friend of mine gifted me this along with some other flavors from this range (after I had given up on my search for this *gem* at Naheed and Atrium Mall). I think she bought it from Time Medicos. You can visit the website here but I am not sure if there is an online shopping option...I hope more shops start stocking it because seriously for this price, its such a great product; both in terms of quality and quantity! Next time, if you ever spot this baby on any shelf, just grab one for trying sake, I promise you won't be disappointed! ;)

So thanks for reading folks. Do let me know if you have used this or any other flavor from Body Luxuries range and do you like it or not?! Have a nice day...xoxo :)

Jewelry from Born Pretty Store

Today I’ll be sharing with you peeps my views about the jewelry/accessory from Born Pretty store. A few days back, I was asked by the Jewelry & Accessory department of the Born Pretty store to review their items. Naturally, I felt very excited as this was gonna be my first PR sample. I was given an option to select a few items of my choice (which trust me was a tough decision as the store has a variety of cute jewelry items at a very affordable price!). So after communicating my selection and address details, I started waiting for my package to arrive. I was a bit anxious as this was the first time I had ever shopped from an international online store. I was kinda skeptical about the safety of the package, any additional taxes to be paid (since it was an international shipment), etc. But thank God all my fears dissolved into happiness when in due time as promised, I got my package delivered.

So let’s peek into my package buddies :P

The package came in a very secure wrapping. As you can see, the envelope is itself lined inside with bubble wrapping, and there was an additional bubble wrapping over the items (which I cant show you as it has already been gifted to my cat to play with haha).

Vintage Ancient Bronze Big Eye Owl Pendant  (US $1.83)

Its pretty huge in size...just the way I wanted! :D

Vintage Owl Shaped Ring (US $2.45)

ADJUSTABLE.

I love how it glistens in the sunlight…. (anybody recalls Edward? :P)

I really like the fact that the items are exactly like they were shown on the website. Though I thought the bracelet would be a slightly bigger in size… L

All in all, I’m pretty happy with this stuff. For such an amazing price tag, I think these products are quite worth a try!

Now for my darling readers, there is a discount coupon… yayyy :D   You can use the code SMKT10 to enjoy 10% discount if you place an order from Born Pretty Store. They offer world wide free shipping.

Thanks for reading. Have you shopped from Born Pretty Store before? How was your experience? Do share in the comments below. Have a good day! :) xoxo

MUA Lipstick - Juicy (shade 15)

Hello hello everyone. It's me Fatima again :D This time I'm gonna share with you something which I bought with high hopes but it didnt turn out as I expected... [ i will try to be more to-the-point and not *incoherent* as my sister calls it :D ]

single swipe (without flash)

MUA Lipstick "Juicy" in shade 15 is a light coral peachy-pinkish shade. You get 3.8 grams of the product for £1 which lasts for quite a few months even with regular usage. Packaging is compact and sturdy; the cap is still very intact after months of usage. Also, through the transparent base, the color of the lipstick is visible which makes it easy to sort it out from the stash. It has a very mild vanilla fragrance which doesnt bother, imho. The texture is smooth and moisturizing (not waxy). Lasting time is around 2.5 - 3 hrs on me (with careful eating/drinking).

So what went wrong??!!

Dude, the biggest problem is, no matter how many times I swipe it, it just wont go opaque!!! Also,it gives an ashy look (im NC 20).

bare lips

MUA Juicy (shade 15) applied

Sadly it settles into fine lines, and thus it doesn't fade away evenly. I guess that's the risk of doing online shopping...I searched the swatches for this lipstick and it seemed to be such a nice color! Pity it didnt suit my (or my sister's - NC25) skin color, nor do I find it acceptable the way it appears on my lips...so what do I do with it? I initially tried to pair it up with other pink lipsticks and it worked fine; and now I use it as a lip balm at night! :D

I bought it from just4girls.pk for PKR 200, and you can also buy it for £1 from MUA store online.

So do you own any MUA lipstick which gets opaque and doesnt appear streaky? Do share your views in the comments below.

Thanks for reading. Have a nice day!

And the Oscar goes to...

Shahid Afridi.

haha. kidding. but a big thanks to the guy for making us proud! it was a great match with solid performances by both the teams. very well played India and Pakistan. Thank you Lala for making Pakistan win in style! ;)

Google image

anyways...onto the Oscars....

Its been my ritual to watch all the Oscar noms for major categories like best: actor/actress, supporting actor/actress, screen play (original and adapted), direction, production design; then predict and wait for the results to be revealed. Not to brag, but last year 8 out of 10 predictions that I made, came true! :D However, This year, all the nominations for major categories were simple works of awesomeness thus making it very difficult to choose one over the other!

Haha. Ofcourse the reference was necessary. :P

So let me tell you straight about my picks and who I'm rooting for this year...

1. Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role:

Cate Blanchett for Blue Jasmine.
Although I equally loved Meryl and Sandra in August:Osage County and Gravity respectively, but I'm literally overwhelmed by Cate's performanse in Blue Jasmine. Also, Amy Adams was great in American Hustle. God her expressions thru eyes...one could really feel the depth of her character...but the "shades" and intricacies in  Cate's role were superbly delivered by her; and hence my vote goes for her.

2. Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role:

Leonardo DiCaprio vs Matthew McConaughey for The Wolf of Wall Street and Dallas Buyers Club.

Its a tough choice. There was great variation in Matthew's role in DBC, but Leonardo carried the whole movie (WWS) flawlessly. The role of Jordan Belfort needed an immense amount of energy and charisma and Leonardo had just the right amount of it! I think its about time that Leo gets the much needed appraisal! As far as I know, Christian Bale and Chiwetel Ejiofor are the favorites, no doubt they played their parts beautifully, but my favorites are the above two and I'm hoping this time Leo takes it!

3. Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role: Bradley Cooper vs Michael Fassbender.

Both did phenomenal job. Chances are Bradley Cooper might get  it for some strange reason that American Hustle seems to be everyone's favorite, but even if he does, this wont be unjust.

4. Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role: Julia Roberts for August: Osage County.

No, I wasn't *overwhelmed* by Jennifer Lawrence's performance in American Hustle (to a great extent it reminded me of SLPB) and Lupita was very convincing in 12 years a slave...but not as much as Julia. I know there is very slim chance of her getting the Oscar this year, but I hope she does!

5. Best Achievement in Directing:

My favorites are Martin Scorsese for The Wolf of Wall Street and Alfonso Cuarón for Gravity. If one gets the Best Direction, the other should get for Best Picture. I know I'm totally forgetting the 10 noms by American Hustle, but it was just 7/10 for me, not 9/10 like these ones...

6. Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen:

I'm at my wits end for this one. I absolutely loved Blue Jasmine for the tight and crisp script, Her for the strong mood of the film, Nebraska ( cried at the end) for its simple yet emotionally captivating story-line and Dallas Buyers Club for the way the issue in fact myriad issues were presented in the movie. Even for that matter, American Hustle's nomination wasn't bad either!

7. Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published:

Captain Phillips OR Philomena OR The Wolf of Wall Street. Difficult to pick one, but I'll go for WWS.

8. Best Achievement in Production Design

I think The Great Gatsby is a clear winner, but have you seen HER ?

Ah...this movie takes you to some other level. A visual and post-modernist masterpiece.

I loved the scores of Gravity, Her and Philomena. I also think that the Best Visual Effects, Cinematography and editing should go to Gravity.
And I never really understood the criterion for Best Picture. So, that's all from my side of predictions. With the Award Ceremony only hours away, here's to the best of talent, hard work and the wonderful movie experiences! :)

Thanks for reading peeps. Do let me know what are your picks for the Oscars? :P

My online shopping experience - Lootlo.pk

Hello everyone. Hope you all are doing great. Today when I was thinking what to write a post about, I realised that I havent shared any of my online shopping experiences here, although I very frequently shop online. So this is the first in a series of posts regarding my online shopping experiences - whether good or bad; I'll vent my heart out here haha. So starting with the latest, today we are gonna be checking out what offer I availed at Lootlo.pk

I guess around 2 months back, I saw an offer at their website (http://lootlo.pk/) of 2 bags of Clarée Products which contained 1 shampoo, 1 face wash, 1 hand cream and 1 foot cream in each bag; for the price tag of PKR 625. I instantly realised that it is such a bargain, although I had never heard about this brand before. A little search on the google and I found that it is an international franchise (http://www.clareecare.com/) and the products seemed quite promising so I thought I should give it a try! The procedure was simple; I placed the order online at Lootlo website, received a call from the representative assuring me that I will get my package in 2-3 working days and I would have to pay the cash amount at the time of delivery. But almost 3 weeks passed and no sign of delivery! I had almost forgot about this whole thing when one day I received a call from Lootlo.pk again and was informed that there was certain problem at their end that's why the delivery was delayed and now I'll get my stuff in a day or two. And indeed I did! Since it was a COD (Cash On Delivery) mechanism, therefore I suffered no heart attacks from the fear of losing my money, the package being lost etc etc hahaha

Ok so now lets have a look at the products.

Let me share my experiences with each of these products one by one.

1- Clarée Neem Face Wash:

the ingredients are all herbal

- packaging is secure (came with a seal) and sturdy. travel friendly. contains 100 ml of the product
- texture is runny. after washing the face, it leaves a slippery/slimy feeling (if you know what I mean :P ). doesn't make the skin dry afterwards. has a light fragrance which doesnt bother. pea sized amount is enough.
- now coming to the product claim, well, I started using it when there was a severe break out on my face in the hope that it may act to cure them to some extent, but, frankly speaking I didn't feel any such thing happening! It just cleanses my skin, keeps it shine free for like 2 - 2.5 hours at most, and no impact on pimples. also, when I'm in a rush in the morning, that slippery/slimy feeling of this face wash makes it quite a time taking task to wash my face with it (I hope you can understand that I like face washes that make face squeaky clean but dont strip it of its natural moisture...yeah yeah I'll review my regular face wash in the coming posts so you would know better :P )
- all in all, this is just an ok product in my opinion. I mean for the same amount and price, there are other products which work way better than this one! (yes I have tried a few :P )

2- Clarée Anti-Dandruff Shampoo:

btw, how does it leather?! o.O

- packaging is secure. flip cap which is quite tight. 200 ml of the product.
- consistency is rather thick. leathers well (but not those extreme bubbles :P ). very mild fragrance of ginger which fades once I'm done with shower.
- the product itself is quite decent. my hair feel quite clean and bouncy after shampooing and also, I have felt a considerable reduction in my dandruff (after repeated usage and following the same regime which I had been following earlier). Having said that, of course one can not expect wonders in a few washes from any shampoo as things take their due course of time, but I just have a feeling that the ginger thing which is a key ingredient of this shampoo, does play a good role.
- overall its a good product, I'll finish this bottle and see if I might want to buy another one. For this price and quantity, it performs the job real well.

3- Clarée Sweet Almond Moisturising Hand Cream:

- packaging is secure with flip cap, quite sturdy and travel friendly. contains 100 ml of the product.
- texture is quite thick. has a moderate sweet fragrance of almond+lavender (which I loooove :P ). and the moisturising power is quite good as well. I would say on my normal skin, 4 hours straight! and, the good part being, the fragrance stays as long does the product! (usually I have experienced that the fragrance fades quicker than the moisture of the hand cream...)
- I am definitely gonna re purchase this one, as for this price and quantity, it is better than many of the other hand creams I have tried!

4- Clarée Cocoa Butter Foot Cream:
all the text in Russian! :)

- packaging is secure with flip cap, quite sturdy and travel friendly. contains 100 ml of the product.
- texture is very thick, which makes its staying power approx 8 hours. yes 8 hours! in my opinion, its quite extraordinary, and whats more surprising is that it can even withstand a one-time contact with water (e.g. one ablution). I have tried it in day and night time both, and I am greatly impressed by its staying power on my normal/dry foot skin.
-now the fun part: the fragrance is a mixture of peppermint and something like cinnamon...quite intense! some people might find it overbearing but I have a welcoming nose for all such bitter-minty weird fragrances, so it doesnt bother me haha..  and just like the hand cream, the fragrance stays as long as the foot cream does!
- I do not need to tell that this is already in my favorites list...for this price and quantity, it is better than most of the foot creams I have tried, and its a sure re-purchase! :D

Now my favorite part: the package actually costs PKR 1250 but I got it at 50% discount, i.e. PKR 625. You know how much I enjoy budget shopping...but so does everyone, right?! :) Although this deal is expired at the website now, but you can always visit Lootlo.pk for other interesting deals. As for the availability of Clarée products, you can visit the Clarée website here and Pakistani readers can check the Herbion Naturals website here which offers delivery of Clarée products with COD. You can also check their face book page here
[I'm not sure at the moment if its available at the local shops in Karachi, I'll update this post if I get to know about it]

Thanks for reading peeps...do tell me if you have tried Clarée products.
Have a happy week ahead! xoxo
