REVIEW: LIZ EARLE INSTANT BOOST SKIN TONIC SPRITZER

If you have oily acne prone skin, use ointments/medicated products on daily basis to combat the acne, prefer less chemical/more natural ingredients based stuff and live in a hot humid weather; then at some point of time you might have wondered how to moisturise your skin without turning it into a grease ball and loading it with more chemicals/ingredients that need to be searched if they could cause trouble to your skin....at least I have! and the answer I have got after trying a number of products is "LIZ EARLE INSTANT BOOST SKIN TONIC SPRITZER".

The tonic comes in a large plastic bottle which holds enough product to last you ages, since only two-three spritzes are required for one time application. I usually use it thrice a day; every time after I wash my face. The consistency is watery and once applied, feels a bit sticky to the skin for like 10-20 seconds but after that you don't feel like you have anything on your face. It has a mild pleasant fragrance, something like "Quice icecream syrup" (those who hail from Pakistan would know what I am talking about haha).

The bottle comes with a spray nozzle and a tight cap so there is no fear of spillage. Since it holds 200 ml of the product, some might find it not so travel friendly due to its weight. (it is also available in 30 ml bottle)

The organic active ingredients along with the combination of essential oils sure do their magic! I have been using it for almost 4-5 months now and I can vouch for this product to be suitable for oily acne prone skin in hot and humid weather of a city like Karachi. As soon as I apply it, my skin feels soft and moisturised, without being oily or anything. Over the course of its usage, I can say that my skin does feel hydrated and even toned (keeping my regime of other products constant). As you may recall, I loved my Boot's Essential Cucumber Moisturising Cream during the winter days, I still use it sometimes at night, but in this humid weather, I find this tonic to be the best toner/moisturiser combo for my skin!

[since I have to apply ointments like benzoyl peroxide on certain nights (which is quite drying), its best to apply a thin layer of moisturiser like this tonic rather than some heavy one, for easy absorption of the ointment/medication.]

Overall, I have a very good experience with this product: nothing fancy shmancy, just a light-weight organic ingredient based toner cum moisturiser which soothes my skin and never has it caused any breakouts or other problem....

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer is available at Liz Earle website (200 ml spritzer for £14.75). Sadly, it is not available in Pakistan, but I believe a number of facebook pages take order for international brands and you can get it from them.

So have you used Liz Earle products? which product is your favorite? do let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading! :) xx

Masarrat Misbah Makeup Launch

Add caption

Yesterday evening was quite a memorable one. Not only because I got to attend a launch event of a new Makeup line, but, a new "Pakistani" Makeup line....and that too by one of the pioneers of the hair and beauty industry of Pakistan!

Masarrat Misbah Makeup or MM Makeup is the first Halal Certified Makeup brand to launch in Pakistan, not using any haram animal substances or intoxicants in the entire product range. As Masarrat Misbah told us that acquiring a Halal certificate is not an easy job; it not only requires the products to be made of only halal ingredients, but the whole company matters even the salaries of employers should be halal! the products are also claimed to be free from Lead and Parabens.

It was a fun event which started with bloggers meet and greet. The star of the event Masarrat Misbah was there to greet every guest. The environment was filled with excitement, energy and warmth.

After the ladies had enjoyed themselves enough playing with the MM makeup, there was a presentation given about the makeup line. Masarrat Misbah, Nighat Misbah, Redah Misbah and all the team was there to answer our queries.

After that we had the chance of taking of photographs, playing with more makeup :P , getting the foundations matched to our skin (so that the appropriate foundation was given to us in the goody bag :D ) and not to forget enjoy the yummy delights! :P

stuff I received in my goody bag :)

[There was also a lucky draw and the winner was to be given a makeover by none other than the sister duo of Masarrat and Nighat Misbah....and can you guess who was that lucky lady?!
ahem...yours truly! :D   for details, you can check my insta :) ]

Masarrat Misbah makeup will be available at outlets including Agha's, Naheed, Scentsation, etc. At the moment it is available online with Cash on Delivery option nationwide. You can visit the website www.masarratmakeup.com  and don't be shocked by the amazing price range! :D

I am already in love with this foundation (silk foundation in shade 'Almond'), can't wait to try out the other goodies :)

Thanks for reading this post...have a lovely day! xx

Nivea Natural Fairness Roll on Review

In the hot humid weather of Karachi, roll ons/body sprays/ body mists are a must! I have been using this roll on for quite some time and now its time to share my thoughts...

To start with, the packaging is standard glass bottle with plastic cap, quite sturdy and travel-friendly; but not to be used with clumsy hands to avoid the chances of dropping the bottle :D The quantity of the product is 50 ml, which if used once a day, will easily last up to 3 months.

The texture is thick whitish fluid, which after you glide on the roller on your skin, transforms to powdery finish and there is no slippery/sticky wet feeling (which I dislike, mainly the reason why I switched from roll ons to mists/sprays). The fragrance is mild flowery and very clean....nothing over-empowering.

Now coming to its claims of "fairer and smoother underarms" and "48-hour anti-perspirant" :

I did not experience any "fairness" factor, but that's fine by me because all I was looking in this roll on (or any other for that matter) is to keep my underarms odor free for at least 12 hours...and that's what it does perfectly! I can't attest to the 48-hour claim (sorry in this sweaty weather I cant postpone to take shower for that long haha) but like I said, it will keep the applied area odor free for 12 hours straight...on a less humid day (and if you don't perspire excessively) it might stretch for 24 hours but not more than that...and in my opinion this is pretty decent work-time for any anti-perspirant product.

For the price of approx PKR 200 and easy availability, it is quite a decent product. I might be buying this again, or I might go back to my all time favorite Nivea Invisible anti-perspirant spray :)

What's your favorite anti-perspirant product? Let me know in the comments below :)

Youth Arts & Literary Exhibition 2015

"Incorporating various media of art and culture, Youth Arts & Literary Exhibition 2015 aims to propagate the talents of Pakistani youth, stand up for intellectual rights and encourage originality with renewed spirits. This time, the exhibition will carry and inspire a theme that highlights Pakistan in all of its conventional and contemporary ethos."

As we entered the premises of Alliance Fran├žaise, we had option to go straight into the patio or turn left and explore the stalls area. We chose the former.

I was interested to join the panel discussion about pirated designer wear and lawn prints, so I moved towards the patio, but just as I reached there it was announced that the discussion is now being held at the library. It was quite a productive discussion highlighting the importance of linkage between creativity and intellectual property rights.

Maliha Rehman, Naveen Qazi and Umair Tabani

After the panel discussion, I hurried upstairs to catch up with speaker session by Jibran Nasir. Thankfully, the session was stretched for another hour and we all were filled with renewed spirits of patriotism and optimism.

the not-so-stationary Jibran Nasir :-P

Now it was time for lunch so we made our way to the food and drinks stalls. We had options from Del Frio, Gon Pacci, TGIF, etc. After lunch and dessert and some more dessert, we lazily settled ourselves on the grass under the shade to enjoy people gazing (favorite Pakistani hobby lol).

DJ in the house

After relaxing for a while, we made our way to the patio again to check on the musical performances.

Now it was time for theater performance. It took us a while to find the exact location, as it was changed at the last moment. The play was midway when we joined the audience. Nonetheless, the actors performed well although the story was not so novel.

Audience enjoying the play

Later on, there was qawwali night which was scheduled for 6 pm on wards. By this time we were kinda exhausted so decided to leave for home. Overall, it was a fun event. The management was quite good except for the last moment change of the location of certain events.

YALE 2015 was a two-day event held on 22nd and 23rd March with free entry (except for qawwali night which was ticketed). I think exhibitions like these are a great source for of fun and education for our youth and should happen more often as our city is in dire need of such events!

Until next time...xoxo :-)

Naan khatai or short bread cookies recipe

So today's post is about the short bread cookies which i tried for the first time yesterday, and they were an instant hit! So i thought to share the recipe with my readers. I love trying out new dessert recipes especially which require easily available ingredients and do not take much time for preparation! Lol talk about being a lazy person :-D

Okay so the actual recipe was taken from this blog ( https://inspiringsamar.wordpress.com/2010/11/15/shortbread-biscuits/ ) [thank you dear lady! :-) ] with a few changes made by me. So lets start with the ingredients:

2 cups maida (all purpose flour)
1 Cup castor sugar
1 cup ghee or melted butter (i had ghee)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder (or more...depends on your taste)
1/2 Teaspoon vanilla essence
1 egg yolk (for brushing)

So i started with grinding the sugar to get the *castor sugar*. I added cardmom seeds (not the covers, ofcourse :-D ) in the blender along with sugar so as to get a fine blended powder. Next i took a bowl, added the flour and baking soda after sifting, then added the castor sugar with cardamom powder. Mixed them. Then added ghee along with the vanilla essence and kneaded till it formed a dough. The dough was not something like our usual *roti wala dough*, it was very soft and a bit oily to touch. By this time i turned on my electric oven to let it preheat at about 180 degrees and started making small balls with hands, flattened them and placed on a baking tray covered with aluminum foil. A slight brush of egg yolk was done using a spoon and the cookies were baked for 7-8 minutes at 180 °C.

They came out like this.

This recipe made about 27 cookies…and they were soft and crunchy and just the way i expected them to be! Haha.

I hope you enjoyed reading the recipe and will enjoy trying it too :-D

Until next time....xoxo

I personally quite liked the quality of the fabric, it was very smooth and gave a luxurious feel. The collection is being introduced in 15 distinct designs in 2 color variants each. Based in a diversity of fabrics  including lawn, chiffon and jacquard, the collection features an energetic colour palette with hues of warm indigos, blues, fresh pinks, greens and ochres which are ideal for the summer season.

My favorite picks from the collection are
